Not fair!

US policies cost Latin America years under dictatorships, economic & social crises... and all Argentina manages to get back is Barbara Bush's purse and cell phone??? Which, rather than being shared, the pickpocket will surely keep -- that is how politics always works in Argentina, anyway.

You mean she was robbed just like that? Dear Lord, some Argentineans do know how to break security! I'm happy for them!

I might be crazy or completely naive, but I think stealing is wrong in every circumstance except emergency. There is a saying in Finland "raised up in cotton wool" referring to someone who is naive, sort of not strong enough to handle with a crisis, and I would imagine many Nordic children are like that, raised up in cotton kind of - at least in comparison to those children who grew up in dangerous suburbs in many countries. So, assuming that I'm one of them, I must admit that if someone stole something that belongs to me, I would indeed have great difficulty dealing with the situation. First, that would mean economic hard-time since a cell phone costs a lot for a student budget. Second, I would have nightmares thinking "had the robber followed me for a long time, does he know sth about me, what if he attacked me with violence?". I don't think anyone should experience that, and Barbara Bush might be a similar "child" as I would.

...just couldn't help posting this, I know the perspective is very err...different.

Thanks for the comments, everybody. What i wanted to point out was simply the irony: the daughter of the man who represents the powers that imposed on Argentina policies that resulted in an incredible rise of corruption and criminality, was a victim of such a crime, even when surrounded by all the security the secret services could provide. In no way am i saying "good that she got robbed", nor rejoicing that she did. It just seemed to me an example of how selfishness and self-interest comes back and bites us in the ass.
