Abusus non tollit usum

I found this Latin phrase today. Basically it means that rights, even though they may be abused, are still rights.

I see this under two possible lights: someone may abuse their rights, overstepping them, or their rights might be abused by someone else. Both these violations might conceivably become habitual. What this quote says then is that, in any case, the original right should be defended. It continues to be a right, no matter how routinely it has been violated or abused.
